We are seeking a full-time reliable, detail-oriented Powder Coating Manager join our powder coating division.

 

The Powder Coater Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations within the powder coating department, ensuring high-quality finishes, efficient workflow, and compliance with production schedules. This role provides strong leadership, drives continuous improvement, develops team, and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards. The Division Manager works cross-functionally with other divisions to meet organizational goals and deliver exceptional results for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop their assigned team
  • Oversee workforce planning including scheduling, task assignment, and managing labor efficiency.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Foster a positive, safety‑focused, and collaborative team culture.
  • Manage daily powder coating operations including surface preparation, application processes, curing, packaging, and material handling.
  • Ensure all projects are completed on time, within quality standards, and according to customer specifications.
  • Maintain strong understanding of powder coating application equipment, curing ovens, pretreatment systems, and filtration systems.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for division equipment and partner with maintenance staff to minimize downtime.
  • Actively review production reports, set & track KPIs, and adjust workflow to meet performance targets.
  • Enforce compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Ensure all coatings meet internal quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Obtain all required documentation for divisional work, including quality checks, production records, and material usage.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and elevate overall performance.

·         Implement Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Administer effective daily divisional production meetings and contribute to company-wide planning and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with customers and sales regarding lead times, special requirements, and all job inquiries/updates.
  • Utilize vendors as needed to ensure optimal supply levels of powder, chemicals, and equipment.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in powder coating, industrial finishing, or related manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of powder coating materials, pretreatment processes, application equipment, and curing systems.
  • Ability to interpret job travelers, technical specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with production software or ERP systems (preferred).

·         Ability to lift-up to 50 pounds

 

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to:

·         Walk, stand, and move throughout the facility to observe operations and support production needs.

·         Occasionally lift over 50 pounds

·         Bend, reach, or climb short ladders when observing equipment or work areas.

·         Tolerate exposure to noise, heat, dust, and chemicals related to powder coating/painting (with required PPE).

·         Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering production areas.
